Story reading to Stroke Patients

A Thousand Word Photos is an organisation that matches photographers and writers, asking the writer to create a short story of 1000 words from the image. The stories are then read out loud by actors through the charity Interact to patients from all across London hospitals recovering from strokes.

I was delighted to take part in this hugely worthwhile project. I can only begin to imagine how isolating and frightening people feel having had a stroke, and I don’t doubt for a moment how storytelling can play its role in recovery and human connection.

Please find my contribution to the project here. This was the image I was given to inspire my story, which I have called The Story of You.
