COURSE STARTING EARLY IN 2025 – Please keep checking for updates of how to take part

‘A word after a word after a word is power.’

Margaret Atwood

The times are calling for writers, both established and aspiring, to pick up our pens and respond to the earth crisis. But we cannot effectively write about the unfolding climate and ecological emergency unless we ground ourselves first, rooting ourselves in the natural world and the stories we have inside us whilst recognising our own self-worth and agency.

This brand new ten-week course will blend climate, nature and life writing, offering tools to meet the challenges we face and drawing upon the immense power of writing to forge a path ahead with greater courage and clarity. If you have ever felt overwhelmed by the enormity of the crisis we face, you are not alone. I firmly believe that writing is a form of activism and during these ten weeks, you will come together with a small, supportive online community to share ideas and feel empowered.

No previous writing experience is necessary, only a willingness to participate, experiment and be bold with your ideas and your words. Spaces are limited to keep class sizes small and the timings will be as inclusive as possible for people living in different time zones.

Testimonials about Rebecca’s Workshops

“Rebecca always offers her insight and skill as a writer to help everyone channel their own passion into their writing. She holds space with a wisdom and sensitivity that allows for transformative writing to take place. I have always left a workshop of hers feeling inspired, and fuelled to continue on my writing journey.”

I’ve attended five or six of Rebecca’s writing workshops, as part of Norwich Writers Rebel and on an eco-therapy day course. There is a simplicity to the prompts and guidance she brings to the sessions, so I don’t feel confused. I feel freed up, like when you push off from the edge of a swimming pool. I immediately feel able to tap into my imagination and a sense of purpose for my writing. The sense of purpose in the exercises align with my own calling to inspire a more regenerative culture and stop the harm to our planet and communities. There’s never a sense of having to craft our writing in competition with others to meet certain rules or standards of a genre. I’m sure Rebecca is well able to advise on crafting pieces for an audience and publication, but that isn’t the starting point. We start with passion and connection.”

Rebecca’s writing retreats are beautiful. I love the space she creates, the prompts she uses and the sense of community. Each time I attend a session with her I always leave overflowing with ideas and wanting to continue the conversation. My first ever retreat with her she guided us to write a stream of consciousness poem based on our senses in nature, I later edited it into some flash non-fiction which became my first ever published piece of work! I couldn’t recommend writing and reflective time spent with Rebecca highly enough, she’s a gem.’
