♡ Love Letters ♡

I wanted to write a quick post about this amazing initiative, The World Needs More Love Letters.

The concept is simple: each month people from around the globe can nominate somebody they know who is suffering in some way (eg illness, bereavement, depression, loss of job or confidence). They write a paragraph about them which will then go on the Love Letters website and people visiting the site can choose one (or more) to write to and send them letters of support.

I don’t know about you, but I very rarely receive post through the mail these days that isn’t bill-related or something pretty tedious, so I love this idea. Imagine going through a terrible time and suddenly having your doormat flooded with caring, compassionate mail from all around the world?

I have once sent a Love Letter and a good friend said that she regularly wrote them a few years back and it helped her through a really dark time by reaching out to others.

Since its inception in 2011, more than 250,000 letters have been delivered in 73 countries. Have a look at the letter requests for November here; do consider brushing off your letter writing paper and either writing a letter or nominating somebody you know who is having a tough time.
